The Genarin's Bury

It´s celebrate in León the Maundy thurday.
Genaro Blanco, “Genarín” was a drunkard man who used to go with whores, he earn money with animal skills.
In 1929 on Maundy Thursday he was knocked down by the first garbage truck while he was having a piss!

People start to remember him with poems, and year after year more people were incorporated to Genarin memory.
Sortly afterwards it becomes in a frarce traditional procession that comes until today like a mockery, or critic towards the hypocrite acttitude of the Church.
Nowadays people make a fun procession with funny poems and songs.

  2. I've never heard of Genarin before. Is this a holiday celebrated in other areas of Spain as well? It looks like someone in the picture is performing on the street. Are there parades for Maundy Thursday?

You may want to choose a different word for "whore" because this is usually considered a fairly rude word. You might want to use "prostitute" instead. This is usually a better word choice for daily conversation (when you're talking about these kinds of things).

Other than that, there are a few minor errors with the past tense, but it doesn't interfere with understanding.

  3. It seems like this is something very local and a strong part of the culture of León. Also, the crowd looks huge! When this event happens every year, is it more of a big wild party, or a very orderly, more calm show?

I can only imagine this celebration as a celebration where everyone is singing and having a good time and is maybe a little bit drunk - is this right?

  4. This is a very interesting article, but it's a little difficult to decipher exactly what you are trying to say.

There are a few of things that I would change. I agree with the first commenter that you should use prostitute instead of whore. By "he earn money with animal skills" do you mean to say that he trained animals? You should also not use the phrase "having a piss." That is also consider inappropriate in a public setting.

  5. What is the significance of it being the "first" garbage truck? The first ever, or the first of the evening?

You might mean to say: "It's celebrated in León as the Maundy Thursday" or "León celebrates the Maundy Thursday".

  6. Wow, this is a really interesting story. There are a lot of different and unusual elements at play here. I don't believe we have any equivalent of this cultural event here in America, but it seems to be a very popular one judging by the size of the crowd gathered around Genarin.

Although the article is definitely understandable, there are a few errors in verb tenses that can be confusing. Instead of saying "people start to remember him," you should say "people began remembering him." Although began and start are generally interchangeable, it sounds awkward to use start here.

Also, I believe you meant to say "shortly" not "sortly" and "attitude" not "acttitude."

You did a great job with the content!

  7. This is quite an unexpected holiday. It actually sounds pretty fun. I'd like to hear some of these poems.

    - We usually say "to take a piss" rather than to "have a piss." (And yes, it is considered vulgar, but that depends on your audience).

    - I'm not sure what is meant by "frarce"...

  8. I would like to learn more about your studies. Why do you all want to learn English and what is being an English teacher like?
